Compliance Navigator® Security and Encryption
Compliance Navigator provides high levels of security for
your data and documents through encryption, password protection, and
permissions.
Document Encryption and Password Protection
Compliance Navigator includes document management
capabilities that allow you to embed documents in a Compliance Navigator
database, link documents to other data, and maintain version control with
document check-in/out.
To provide additional security, Compliance Navigator allows you to encrypt
embedded documents with encryption technology that meets the requirements of government document processing.
Compliance Navigator uses the Microsoft Windows® Encryption System (Crypto API) to
provide encryption support, with the following algorithms:
- RC2 Block
- RC4 Stream
- DES
- Triple DES*
- Triple DES 128 bit key*

Enhanced Cryptographic Provider installed on Windows® for both
encryption and decryption.
Compliance Navigator also allows you to password protect
each individual document embedded in a Compliance Navigator database.
Each document supports a password to open the document, and another password
to check-out the document or change its security settings. Compliance
Navigator also maintains a log of users accessing individual documents.
User Permissions
With Compliance Navigator, you can control how much access
each user has to different areas of the database. Individual users can
be assigned separate access permissions to tasks, audits/findings, and
issues/actions. For each portion, users can be assigned read-only
permission, read/write permission, or read/write/delete permission.
You can also allow or disallow web-access for a user.
